A-Class defines 'functional'
coatings as those that serve another purpose than to make an item look good (though this is an important function of some coatings). For example electrical fittings tend to perform better (in the conduction of electricity) when assisted
by a tin or silver coating (depending
on the application).
Parts are processed by either rack or barrel. Rack plating for larger
items and barrel plating for large quantities of small parts. Some of the
functional metal finishing processes performed at A-Class are:

TIN PLATING
Tin plating is primarily used in the electrical industry for
the purposes of:
- electrical
connections
- corrosion
prevention
- solderability
A Class has
the facilities to rack plate to 2 metres in length or barrel plate small
items.
SILVER
PLATING
Silver plating (functional, not decorativve) is primarily used in the electrical and electronic
industry for the purposes of:
- electrical
conductivity
- electrical
connectors
A Class has
the facilities to rack plate larger parts up to 2 metres in length or
barrel plate large volumes of small items.
ELECTRO-LESS
NICKEL PLATING
Electroless nickel has many uses in a large number of industries due to
its numerous properties and advantages such as - even plating over the
entire surface; corrosion resistance; wear resistance; lubricity; hardness.

HIGH PURITY
SILVER PLATING
The high purity silver process is used primarily in the electronics industry
for radio frequency applications where the maximum conductivity of the
silver can be utilised due to the extreme electrical conditions the components
will be exposed to.
HIGH PURITY
GOLD PLATING
High purity gold is used in situations where high conductivity is required
but where corrosion resistance is also a major concern and is used for
many electrical or electronic applications such as plugs and connectors
of all sorts. Another application is for laser reflectors.
